Assessment – Planning to Progress

Guidance for making primary end of year judgements in 2021

These guidance documents have been developed by the Brighton & Hove local authority in partnership with Sussex Coast TSA, Sussex Maths Hub and schools as part of their City Wide Assessment Project.

The guidance builds on the inter-LA recommendations for assessment in 2021 and focuses on identifying ‘essential – ready to progress criteria’ and ‘desirable – ready to progress criteria’ for each year group in reading, writing and mathematics.

Please note: this is guidance only and is not a statutory requirement. These documents are being shared in order to support schools but there is no onus on schools to use them.
