If you’re considering teaching as a career, we strongly recommend attending as many events as you can to help you decide the best route to Qualified Teacher Status. There are multiple ways to train and it is important to do your research to understand which one will be right for you. Most providers are active on social media and we would recommend following them to ensure you hear about their news and virtual events available.
The Sussex Teacher Training Partnership offer a School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) route and they are holding a series of online events. The next one is taking place on Thursday 26th November, running from 17:00 to 18:00. The session will include a presentation to explain the routes they offer and how to apply. You will be able to speak to the Training Leader and hear from previous trainees and current NQTs about their experience on the programme. The University of Chichester are holding a virtual open day on 14 November running for a full day from 9:30 to 16:00, aimed at both undergraduates and postgraduates. The lecturing team will be available as well as a range of talks on ar range of topics from finance, to student support and admissions. They can also explain entry requirements, fees and funding for your chosen route into teaching. There will be a live chat with staff and students and virtual tours of the campus. If you’re not sure about the next step to take, the Department for Education are holding a live Q&A event where you can hear more about the different options available to you to help you retrain.
